Dr. Louis Brad
Dr. Louis Brad is a
1986 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary
Medicine. He also received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Animal
Science from Southern Illinois University prior to entering veterinary
school. His career has
taken him from working with dairy cattle in northern Illinois to small
animal practice in Raleigh, NC, and finally to Boulder in 1991. Louis
purchased Gunbarrel Veterinary Clinic in early 1992 and things have
never been the same! He enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine with
special emphasis on surgery and internal medicine. Since his completion
of the veterinary acupuncture course through the International
Veterinary Acupuncture Society in 1997 he has added alternative
modalities to his treatment options.
Louis decided in
2001 that the practice had outgrown the charming old farm house and
started working on a new hospital. The dream was realized in July of
2004, with the new hospital winning an award for a national veterinary
hospital design competition.
In his spare time,
Louis enjoys skiing, hiking, reading, and traveling. He and his wife
Candy live in the foothills of Boulder with their three cats.
Dr. Kim Smith
Dr. Kim Smith graduated from Purdue University School of Veterinary
Medicine in
2002. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology from The
University of North Carolina-Wilmington in 1994. Kim worked in an
equine practice after graduating from veterinary school before making
the switch to small animal medicine. Prior to her move to Boulder in
1994, Kim worked in Wilmington, NC for 2 years. Kim and her husband
Adam have two dogs and a horse. In her spare time Kim enjoys horseback
riding, hiking, mountain biking and pretty much anything else outdoors!!
Dr. Judy Welcome
Dr. Judy Welcome is originally from
upstate New York. She graduated from CSU’s College of Veterinary
Medicine in 1991 and has a Bachelor of Science in Equine Science as
well. Judy has worked all over the country and decided to resettle back
in Colorado in 2002. After doing some relief work for Gunbarrel
Veterinary Clinic, Judy accepted a full time position in November 2004.
Judy loves seeing your pets in the exam rooms and concentrates on
medicine, behavior, and training. Judy and Jerry have two dogs, Bradley
the heeler and Kira the half heeler, as well as Biko the cat. Judy and
the pups have been involved in agility in the past and loved it. They
also enjoy walking, hiking, gardening, and the Colorado sunshine.
Dr. Leslie Williams
Dr. Leslie Williams received a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major
in Biology in
1991. She graduated from the University of Georgia Veterinary School in
1996, and then completed a one year internship in small animal medicine
and surgery at Washington State University. She has practiced
veterinary medicine in the Longmont/Boulder area since 1997 and has been
with Gunbarrel Veterinary Clinic since the winter of 2001. She works
with dogs, cats, and small mammal exotics, and most enjoys
senior/geriatric medicine. Dr. Williams lives in Longmont with her
husband Andy, her two sons Josh and Ben, and her golden retriever and
two cats. In her spare time she enjoys sailing, hiking and volleyball.
