SURGERY AND DENTISTRY
Whether your pet is being spayed or neutered or in need of a more complicated procedure, our doctors and staff are dedicated to the well being of our patients.  All surgeries are performed with constant monitoring of anesthesia by our trained nursing staff.  Anesthetic monitoring includes, EKG, respiratory, blood oxygen and blood pressure readings just like in a human hospital.  Our patients are monitored closely by our nursing staff post operatively and receive pain relief medications.  Our clients are encouraged to check on their pet's status by contacting a member of our nursing staff at any time.

WELLNESS AND PREVENTIVE CARE
Nothing is more important than routine examinations and preventive medicine for your pet.  Remember that your pet ages at a faster rate than we do, approximately 5 to 7 years for each calendar year depending on species and breed.  The gradual onset of disease in a seemingly healthy pet may go unnoticed.  An Annual Wellness Exam is the best way to detect a potential disease before it worsens.  In addition to annual exams, routine dental care, vaccinations and fecal testing for the control of parasites, play an important part in the prevention of disease.  An annual blood profile and urinalysis is recommended for animals over 5-7 years of age.  Laboratory blood profiles aid in the early detection of kidney and liver disease, infection, thyroid disease and cancer.

MEDICAL SERVICES
As a full service animal hospital we offer a comprehensive range of medical services including wellness and preventive care programs, internal medicine, dentistry, radiology, orthopedic surgery, ultrasound and acupuncture.  There is nothing more rewarding to us than relieving the discomfort and pain that illness may cause.  We know your pet is a special member of your family and we pride ourselves that you trust us with your pet’s care.

" We have had Gunbarrel as part of our kitty family for 10+ years. Very compassionate when we lost our family member(s) and very insightful as to a diagnosis we would have never considered. Highly recommend this group."           -Gillian

SENIOR MEDICINE
A significant number of the pets we see are senior citizens in the canine and feline world.  We feel it is particularly important to monitor these pets routinely and it may be necessary to increase the frequency of physical exams for your older pet.  Studies have indicated that 20% of dogs and cats over 7 years of age have serious undetected medical conditions.
We look at each pet as an individual and make suggestions based on what we see, feel and learn from you.

TPLO AND TTA SURGERY
Injury to the cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) is one of the more common orthopedic injuries in the dog.  This ligament is known as the ACL in people.  There are many surgeries described to deal with cruciate injuries in the dog.  The two most common are the Lateral Retinacular Imbrication (Lateral Suture or FLO) technique and the Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO).  We offer both techniques at Gunbarrel Veterinary Hospital and are happy to discuss these procedures with you.
